Surrounded by a musical family, Belinda Robles Montoya has been playing a musical instrument since the age the early age of 5. Born and raised in San Francisco, she was first introduced to the piano. By the age of 13, she already had picked up 4 instruments, her favorite being the saxophone. After graduating high school, she honed in on her music skills as music major at San Jose State. There she began sitting in with local jazz bands. Wanting to really pursue music seriously, she transferred to Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music. While her stay at Berklee, she met other kindred spirits who had a passion for music. There she began to compose some of her first dance tracks. Using jazz harmonies, her songwriting projects were always in some form of a house/dance track. That of course was to the amusement of her instructors. Graduating Berklee in 1995 in arranging and performance, she took some time off before making the big music move to LA. While in LA she played with several funk session players and members of the LA funk group Weapon of Choice. While playing freelance gigs with blues bands, she landed a gig with a Ska/Funk band The Tourists (now Atlantic recording artists.)

After 1997, Belinda moved back to the Bay Area to find herself freelancing as a saxophonist in San Francisco's Acid Jazz scene. While teaching saxophone at San Francisco's Haight and Asbury Music Center, she was approached by dance Electronica group Scintilla. With Scintilla, she got to play her melodic saxophone lines to hard dance eletronica. The group did make some headway on the dance charts in Ireland and played at the Glastonbury Music festival. Belinda also at that time, had also helped form the all female R & B band London Street. There she composed and played keyboards for almost 4 years.

Wanting to branch out and pursue her love of dance music, she went to Moulton studios in San Francisco to record her tracks by Jay-J Hernandez. Within a year she continued to write tracks and was asked to be on ASCAP's Electronica Dance Sampler CD. At this time she met her business partner DJ Jorge Terez who gave a DJ's perspective to her music. From here Belinda's label and production house Bluevelvetcat had been formed.

Currently, Belinda has been featured playing keys on Sandy Rivera's remix of Michelle Weeks "The Light Remix" on Defected Records. She is now on Sandy's label Deep Vision Records with her first 2 releases.

Jorge Gutierrez aka DJ Jorge Terez grew up in San Francisco listening to classic disco & funk records played by his older siblings. At the young age of 8, he began collecting vinyl inspired by the hip-hop/ break dancing scene. From then on, Jorge's niche was found. Thanks to his older brother, who gave him a gift of 2 Sony turntables, Jorge basically taught himself to mix and scratch." I already had a pretty large record collection ranging from disco funk records to new wave/punk records at the time." Throughout high school, he built his DJ reputation by spinning at house parties and also with other local DJs.

In 1987 he began to listen to house records by Todd Terry. By that time, Jorge had been influenced by the Chicago House Scene and decided what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. In 1991 Jorge landed a gig at The Palladium in SF as the opening DJ. Through his Palladium connections, he landed a job at one of San Francisco's biggest radio stations Live 105. He worked various positions eventually working up to production assistant & Mix Show producer. In 1997 he defected to San Francisco's urban radio station Wild 94.9 where he assisted over a year for the Saturday night mix show. Throughout this time, he held down various DJ residencies spinning up to 5 nights a week at The Sound Factory, Club X, The Box, The Café, Townsend and the infamous PleasureZone parties. Leaving commercial radio in 1999, he was able to focus on the bay area club scene spinning at various clubs for various promoters. Wanting to further his career in 2000, Jorge decided to get back behind the scenes and focus on being primarily a dance music producer. Currently, he has collaborated with musician Belinda Robles Montoya to produce original soulful house tracks for Bluevelvetcat and Deep Vision Records.

DJ influences: all the usual suspects...Frankie Knuckles, Louie Vega, David Harness, Francois K, etc. Bay area dj influences: Miguel Migs, Jay J, Ruben Mancias, and Mind Motion Dj style....."I like to cover the full range of dance music. Ranging From downtempo beat stuff to the soulful house sound even playing the Progressive and break beat stuff. I like it all. As long as it's funky and well produced, I can appreciate it."
